Full Research Professor at the French Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD). After her PhD in Parasitology from the University of Montpellier (UM), France, S. Manguin spent 7 years in the USA for a post-doctorate at USDA, Beltsville (1988-90) and Research Assistant at USUHS, Bethesda (1990-95) working on malaria vectors from Latin America. In 1996, she integrated IRD in Montpellier (France) to investigate vector-borne diseases from Southeast Asia and Africa. She is now a leading medical and molecular entomologist interested in mosquitoes and pathogen transmission responsible for malaria, dengue, chikungunya, Japanese encephalitis in a One Health context. She is developing research studies on molecular species identification, vectorial capacities, spatial surveillance, midgut microbiota, salivary immunological markers, and green vector control approaches within a network of collaborations in Southeast Asia and Africa. She is teaching medical entomology in 4 universities, UM and Sorbonne-Paris in France, Kasetsart Univ. (KU) in Thailand, and Gadjah Mada (UGM) in Indonesia. She is the Secretary General of the International Federation of Tropical Medicine (https://www.iftm-hp.org/) and an organizer member of the International Congress for Tropical Medicine & Malaria (ICTMM). She has a h-index of 37 (WoS, Nov 2022) with more than 120 international publications and editor of 2 books on Anopheles mosquitoes published in 2013 (https://www.intechopen.com/books/3092) and Towards malaria elimination published in 2018 (https://www.intechopen.com/books/6339).
