Susanne Hempel, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Population and Public Health Sciences at the University of Southern California (USC) and Director of the Southern California Evidence Review Center. She leads a large portfolio of multi-disciplinary projects, including systematic reviews, scoping reviews, evidence maps, and expert panels, as well as methodological work to advance research syntheses. She has a prolific publication record, including a book on literature reviews for the American Psychological Association, and has consistently been recognized on the annual list of the top 2% of most-cited scientists since the Stanford/Elsevier ranking began in 2019. As a personality psychologist by training, Dr. Hempel also teaches in the Master of Public Health (MPH) and the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention programs at USC.
