Education and training
PhD degree in Pharmaceutical Science
She is graduated magna cum laude in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology from the University of Genoa (ITALY) and in Pharmacy from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” (ITALY), from the former institution she received her PhD degree in Pharmaceutical Science. During her post-doctoral studies, she spent six months at the Laboratory of Molecular Biophysics (Oxford University, UK) as visiting scientist and two years at the Laboratory of Molecular Modelling of Tecnofarmaci Spa (Pomezia-ROMA) as visiting scientist.
Professional experience
Since 1999 she has been working at the School of Medicine and Pharmacy of the University of Genoa, first as researcher (till 2004) and from 2005 till now as Associate Professor.
She is course lecturer of the following courses:
-“Food and Dietary products” for the second-level degree of Pharmacy
-“Functional Foods and Dietary Supplements” for the second-level degree of Pharmacy
- “Food chemistry applied to the food control” for the first-level degree of Prevention Techniques In The Environment And The Workplace
- "Food Chemistry” for the post graduate school of Hospital Pharmacy.
She is also teaching in the Doctoral School of Pharmaceutical, Food and Cosmetic Sciences and in several post graduate master courses.
During her scientific activity, Raffaella Boggia has conducted researches focused on:
• formulation of nutraceutical ingredients by eco-sustainable techniques starting from agro-industrial by-products and waste;
• green extraction techniques;
• spectroscopic fingerprint techniques coupled to multivariate statistical analysis to assess food and dietary supplements authenticity;
• applied chemometrics and experimental design;
• lipid modifications caused by technological processing on food and on dietary products;
• applied chemometrics and experimental design;
• molecular modelling;
• quantitative structure-activity relationships.
She has been lecturer in national and international symposiums and schools.

She is author and co-author of more than 160 original publications (publications, congress presentations, book chapters). She is co-author of 1 patent “Estratto ottenuto da materiale vegetale, composizione contenente detto estratto e dispositivo per la produzione del detto estratto “, dep number: 102015000088909.

She is reviewer of several international journals. She is in the editorial board of MPDI “Applied Sciences” and "Applied Chemistry". She is in the editorial board as Review Editor of Green and Sustainable Chemistry (specialty section of Frontiers in Chemistry and Frontiers in Environmental Science). She is Guest Editor of several Special issues (Molecules, Antioxidants). She is topic editor for MPDI “Antioxidants”. She has been reviewer of international research projects.
