Research Interests
¿How do cells reconcile their fluxes of matter, energy and information? His group in Valdivia, Chile, looks for new phenomena and mechanisms with imaging techniques that probe metabolism at high spatiotemporal resolution.
Personal Profile
Raised in Santiago, he studied at the Marshall School and at the Instituto Nacional. Became medically qualified and obtained a PhD in Biomedical Sciencies at the University of Chile, with a thesis advised by David Yudilevich. He was Wellcome Trust International Fellow in the laboratory of Steve Baldwin in Leeds, UK, and returned as an Assistant Professor to the University of Chile. He joined the Centro de Estudios Científicos-CECs, Valdivia, in 2000, and became a Professor at Universidad San Sebastián (USS) in 2022.
Teaching
He teaches Physiology and Pathophysiology at the School of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Science, USS. He is faculty member at the PhD in Chronic Diseases, USS, and teaches in various graduate courses at USS, Uach, UChile, PUC, etc., and other instances.
