简介
Dr. Hüseyin Arslan received his BS degree from Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara, Turkey, and his MS and Ph.D. degrees from Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas. He began his career at Ericsson Research, where he contributed to major projects involving 2G and 3G wireless communication systems. From 2002 to 2022, he served as a Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department at the University of South Florida. In 2013, he joined Istanbul Medipol University to establish the Engineering College, where he continues to serve as the Dean of the School of Engineering and Natural Sciences. He served as the Founding Chairman of the Board of Directors of ULAK Communications, Türkiye’s national telecom equipment provider. He also served on the TÜBİTAK Scientific Board and was a Member of the Board of Directors at Turkcell, Türkiye’s largest cellular operator. Dr. Arslan’s research focuses on advanced signal processing at the physical and medium-access layers, cross-layer design for adaptive networking, and Quality of Service (QoS) optimization. His work spans a broad range of wireless technologies, including cellular systems, wireless PAN/LAN/MAN, fixed wireless access, aeronautical networks, underwater networks, in vivo communication, and wireless sensor networks. His current research includes next-generation (6G and beyond) radio access technologies, physical-layer security, interference management, cognitive radio, small cells, UWB, multi-carrier systems, dynamic spectrum access, heterogeneous network coexistence, high-altitude platform communications, in vivo channel modeling, and underwater acoustic communications. He has played leading roles in IEEE conferences as a technical program committee chair, committee member, symposium organizer, and workshop chair.
Dr. Arslan has made significant scholarly contributions to the wireless communications field. His body of work includes patents, book chapters, edited volumes, a textbook, and numerous journal and conference publications. His pioneering contributions to waveform design, cognitive radio, and future-generation wireless systems (including 5G and 6G) have gained strong recognition from industry, standards bodies, and the global research community. He has been elevated to IEEE Fellow, elected as a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI), and selected as a Full Member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences. Beyond research, Dr. Arslan has played a major role in advancing wireless communication education. He integrates research outcomes into teaching, has published influential educational work, and has received multiple teaching awards. He has supervised many PhD and MS graduates who have gone on to successful careers in leading universities and major technology companies worldwide.
