简介

I spent over 15 years at the World Health Organization (WHO) headquarters in Geneva, where I worked across several areas of global public health and violence prevention. My responsibilities included social connection, social isolation, and loneliness, serving as scientific lead for the WHO Commission on Social Connection; prevention of abuse of older people; measurement and monitoring for the United Nations Decade of Healthy Ageing; and global violence prevention, in particular the prevention of violence against children and elder abuse. Earlier in my career, I worked in academia in the United Kingdom, as a clinical scientist for the UK Department of Health and Ministry of Justice’s Dangerous and Severe Personality Disorder Programme, and with the International Committee of the Red Cross. I hold a PhD and MPhil in Criminology from the University of Cambridge, specializing in forensic psychiatry, and a BA in Anthropology from McGill University, with a focus on cross-cultural psychology.
